Follow-up, whether in person or by phone, helps the mentor track and celebrate the client's progress, help work through obstacles, and identify new goals. It's a good idea to check in periodically to get a sense of the client's progress and give an opportunity to have a follow-up meeting. Either the client can decide when to contact you, or you can schedule regular meetings.
Mentors often want to see some change right away, but remember: clients need some time to digest information from the MAP meeting, and it takes time to make progress. Busy schedules, family issues or other factors can interfere. Client success includes any small, significant and durable change. Change can be as simple as helping someone look at money and finances in a new way.
