Financial Tools for Case Managers

You don't have to be a financial expert to help your clients with money and credit issues. The following tools can help you connect clients to resources so they can meet their financial goals.

Financial Resources Presentation: Turn clients' financial issues into personal and financial goals; Identify when and how to use spending plans with clients; Understand the basics of credit reports and scores; Create action plans to meet your clients' goals.

Worksheets:  These worksheets can be used with clients to meet their personal and financial goals.

  • Spending Plan: A tool that shows a realistic picture of: 1) What money is coming in, 2) What money is going out and where, and 3) The bottom line, or what's left over.
  • Spending Leak Worksheet: Plugging "spending leaks" can help your clients save money for their goals. This worksheet helps clients see that the little items they buy everyday add up.
  • Emergency Fund Worksheet:  Use this worksheet to calculate how much clients need in their emergency fund to cover basic living expenses for three to six months.
  • My Action Plan: A tool to help clients make a step-by-step plan to meet their financial and personal goals.
