MAP Meeting Preparation

Before sitting down with the client to develop an action plan (called "My Action Plan", or MAP), use the MAP Preparation Form and MAP Instructions to review client information and to start sketching out ideas for an action plan. The general steps to prepare for a MAP session include:

  1. Review program information, such as the client's original application or credit report.
  2. Correct and review the Quick Quiz, and identify learning opportunities.
  3. Review the Intake Interview to look at how the client handles finances now.
  4. Review the Quick Questionnaire to look for life changes that may affect the client's ability to reach his/her goals. Note the learning style the client prefers.
  5. Identify action steps and resources. Given the information above, consider what steps the client might take to move toward his/her goals.
  6. The next step is to meet the client and to work together to build an action plan.
